What a great weekend! The Hangover Classic was in fine form and we had plenty of our own fencers there, both fencing and cheering their friends on. In fact, we had six competitors on Saturday (five in mixed foil, one in women's epee) and five on Sunday (all in mixed epee). From the first-timers to the 'old hands' everyone did well, even when the final scores weren't what they were hoping for. Scott updated his ratings in epee and foil to 2011 and Ed updated his epee rating as well. Congrats, guys! Full results can be seen here.
Up next, the River City Rumble, a ratings rally in Richmond. C and under saber and E and under foil are on Saturday, January 29, and C and under foil and epee are on Sunday, January 30. The entry fee is $20 per weapon if you pre-register, $25 if you don't.

December's saber class is being extended through January, thanks to the weather and all that other stuff. There's no additional cost, just come on out to IWFC on Friday nights from 7:00 to 8:00! If you didn't sign up for the December class and want to get in on the January action, email me.
Poquoson: Yes, we're back on schedule this weekend! If you've just completed the beginner class, I highly encourage you to come to the club practices so you can work on those new skills. Practice is from 6:00 to 8:00 on Sunday evenings. (Club dues apply.) It's important to be comfortable with what you've learned so far before you take the intermediate class, otherwise you'll be spending so much time trying to remember the basics that you won't get as much as you should out of it!
Schedule tweak: Please note there will be no class or club fencing Monday, January 24.
